How To Write Your Personal Profile

Writing your personal profile on matrimonial sites is not easy. You are writing about yourself and this is harder than writing about others.

Your personal profile is the first introduction of you to your prospective partner. Your profile has to be a good reflection of the type of person you are – Some profile descriptions are so over the top and some too negative – However good the person really is, the profile kind of kills the chances of them getting a good response to their ad on matrimonial site.

You are here on the matrimonial site to find a life partner – someone you will be living with for the rest of your life. So be true to yourself and write a description that is truly ‘you’.

Here are some more of my tips to write a good personal profile about yourself on the matrimonial site:

Be Honest: Tell the truth – No boasting – be it either about your physical traits or personal wealth or abilities. And even if you are the most good looking person with huge personal future, be modest about what you say about yourself. This personal profile is only the first step and if your profile arouses the interest of your prospective partner then he/she will contact you. They will after a couple of conversations find out the real ‘you’. So be honest – Truth always comes out.

Humor: Bring in some humor. Don’t be too serious and portray yourself as Mr/Ms Perfect. Bring out the lighter side in you. Put yourself on the other side – if the profile brings out a couple of smiles in you then you will get a good feeling about the person about who wrote it.

Hobbies: Write about what you like to do in your free time. Don’t title it hobbies and write your hobbies down, like you do on a resume. Instead write about how you like to go trekking on Sundays etc etc.

Be Specific: Be specific about what you are after – Be specific about values held and sought. This will save a lot of heartache later on.

Grammar and Spelling: Please make sure the Grammar is correct. Use the spell checker and make sure there are no spelling errors.

Finally – I know I have already said this but please be honest. Honesty pays.

When writing about yourself don’t write about who you would like to be, write about who you really are.
